Young People and other ‘hard to reach’ groups:
CYL has developed a number of approaches with the aim of overcoming the barriers to accessing so called ‘hard to reach’ groups including targeted youth support programmes, marketing campaigns, outreach and alternative activities. These expertise’s have been successfully applied to our services and have proven effective in attracting young people who have traditionally shunned other initiatives. Through our use of celebrities, popular artists and respected community figures, CYL has gained the trust of young people in many disadvantaged areas.

CYL’s record on diversity issues is exemplary. This competence and experience supports the development and delivery of our services to ensure that it meets the needs of a diverse young population. It is CYL’s cultural awareness that distinguishes it from many others. This is evidenced in the rich ethnic mix of our staff at all levels of the organisation from the Chairman to Youth Management Committee and volunteers. Systems and processes are in place across the organisation to ensure this competence informs our recruitment, induction, training and working methods of our staff. CYL’s approach is informed by the steady flow of volunteers and local people into our organisation, bringing with them the richness of experience, knowledge and passion that comes with people who really care about the communities in which they live.
Resource Design and Production:
CYL have worked with The Digital Holdings to create and produce resources such as flyers, posters and other promotional materials for events held by Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark council, to name just a few, along with our own projects, marketing and recruitment drives over the last few years.
