Mentoring is a fundamental element of the CYL delivery strategy, enabling us to engage with young people. With positive role-models who can provide advice, information, and guidance whilst helping them to plan for their future.

The formal mentoring programme includes one to one mentoring by; peers, celebrities, artists and media professionals with additional life-coaching sessions delivered by a professional life coach. Our engagement is supported by providing the option to have a  psychometric report written, which advices on the best ways to manage and communicate with an individual.

Sessions last up to 5 hours a day, one day per week over a period of 12 – 36 weeks.

Peer mentoring takes place as part of our media course delivery. We also recognize that many young people may find it difficult to talk to adults and/or express themselves; which can be due to a lack of trust or feeling that older people do not understand them. That is why we pride ourselves on providing a safe space for all young people and embracing difference by championing that it is ok to be different.

CYL Youth mentors participate in the delivery of all our media courses alongside our professional tutors. CYL Mentors are enhanced DBS checked and trained to identify young people who may need additional support or safeguarding.
